A simple neighborhood sushi place. We dragged our parents for an early lunch. We ordered soft shell crab and mixed tempura. Crunchy and tasty as expected. Also ordered 4 sushi rolls to share. Good texture and fresh fillings. The tea was hot unlike the occasional tepid tea elsewhere. Nice service, will try other sushi next time.

New place in Palo Alto, best sushi we have tried so far. All the staff are very kind and attentive, Rita especially is very helpful and kind! This is the second time i order catering lunch and the office just loves it. The fish is fresh and the presentation is spectacular. I recommend this place 100%.

Wonderful surprise Japanese breakfast/brunch. This place has only been here for 5 months, and I didn’t realize they do a Japanese take on breakfast. Everything we had was delicious. No one in my family ordered off the sweet breakfast menu, but we will next time! There’s French toast, mochi pancakes, and more!

So delicious! The salmon lovers was amazing and here’s the star. The softshell crab was fried right before our sushi was made so it was served warm and crispy.

This is the best sushi restaurant in Palo Alto! We have been to a few of them on California Avenue, and the quality of the food and its affordability at Kanji is certainly the best among them all. We ordered the 15 pieces sashimi platter and the cut of the fish was so thick and satisfying. The sweet shrimps were also very worth it, it was so fresh and they even fry the heads for you. Will come back next time to try their breakfast!

We really enjoyed finding this gem! It was out of the normal area we would find restaurants in Palo Alto but it’s worth the drive! We ordered a few rolls that were gluten free, tea, sake and salmon nigiri. Great service and atmosphere.

We ordered fried oyster, sashimi combo, and nigiri combo. Food is yummy. Staff is friendly. Not many people for a late lunch / early dinner on Sunday.

The food was very tasty, fresh, and everything was clean and well-presented. We really enjoyed it! The place was busy, which shows it’s popular. Unfortunately, the service was quite poor. One of the items we ordered at the beginning never arrived, and one set was brought out incorrectly and then taken away right from our table. We had to wait another 30 minutes for the correct one, so we ended up sharing one set between two people while waiting. That’s a big downside. Hopefully, the service improves in the future because the food itself is excellent.
